Funding Awarded to Investigate Hydrogen

Neoen is investigating the possibility of constructing a renewable hydrogen production facility at the Crystal Brook Energy Park. The proposed 50MW Hydrogen Superhub would be the largest co-located wind, solar, battery and hydrogen production facility in the world, producing up to 25,000kg of hydrogen per day.

Neoen has been awarded a grant from the South Australian Government’s Renewable Technology Fund to conduct a feasibility study to determine if the proposed Superhub can proceed. Neoen will use this funding to support further detailed technical and economic studies. This will determine the most viable end-use for hydrogen and ensure that the risks and opportunities are fully understood.

Depending on the outcomes of the study and community consultation, the hydrogen production facility may be located in Crystal Brook or alternatively at another location such as Port Pirie with a direct electrical connection to the Crystal Brook Energy Park.
