Land Agreements Signed
In early 2016, a group of Crystal Brook landowners and project supporters initiated an expression of interest process to find a development partner and long term owner/operator for the project. This request included background information on both the wind and solar resource available at the site.
Neoen was selected by the group as their preferred project partner in mid-2016. Neoen plans to develop the project through to operation, and maintain majority ownership and operate the facility over the 30-year life of the asset.
The Crystal Brook site was first identified as a potential location for a wind farm in 2010 and has a world class wind and solar resource.
Since then, there have been substantial reductions in the cost of solar panels, battery storage and wind turbines which has created the opportunity for an economic storage-solar-wind solution with the capability to dispatch generation during times of high electricity demand.
